Effective arthritis and osteoarthritis pain relief and control in Singapore
Arthritis and osteoarthritis pain relief and control is essential to combat the debilitating effects of inflammation and wear and tear in joints.
Inflammatory types of arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis – an auto-immune condition – develop when the body’s immune system attacks the joints. Rather than healing the body, this results in damage to the joint, causing stiffness and pain.
This can happen in response to an injury or as a defence against bacteria or a virus. Often, though, the inflammation – which can also affect the ligaments and tendons surrounding a joint – occurs for no apparent reason.
Rheumatoid arthritis generally develops gradually. A few joints – often the wrists or fingers – become sore and may swell, often intermittently. You may also feel stiff when you get up in the morning.
However, in some cases, the condition can worsen rapidly, with swelling and pain in many joints, resulting in great difficulty in carrying out everyday tasks.
Symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis
Besides swelling and pain, other signs of rheumatoid arthritis include:
- Flu-like symptoms
Less common symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis are:
- Eye inflammation
- Weight loss
- Lumps on the elbows, feet or hands
Symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis tend to come and go. Research shows that the sooner you get treatment, the more effective it’s likely to be, so early diagnosis is important. If untreated, the condition can result in destruction of the joint or permanent deformity.

Don't endure the pain any longer.
Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis. It occurs through wear and tear when the cartilage cushioning the ends of bones in a joint becomes thin and the bone thickens. The bone at the edge of the joint may then move outwards, creating osteophytes – bony spurs.
With osteoarthritis, all the tissues within the joint become overactive as your body tries to repair the damage. Sometimes, osteoarthritis won’t cause significant problems but in severe cases, the cartilage can become so thin that it doesn’t cover the ends of the bones, which then rub against each other and start to erode.
Although osteoarthritis is classed as a non-inflammatory condition, it can still cause some inflammation of joints.
Symptoms of osteoarthritis include:
- Pain that gets worse with movement of the joint.
- A grating sensation in the joint.
- Restricted movement of the joint.
Without treatment, osteoarthritis can lead to gout and chondrocalcinosis – calcification of cartilage.

Easing arthritic problems with chiropractic treatments
Many people seeking a holistic approach to provide arthritis pain management choose chiropractic treatment, as it can be highly effective in maximizing the function of an arthritic joint once any swelling has subsided. Chiropractic care can also be particularly beneficial to relieve neck and back pain caused by osteoarthritis.
Our experienced chiropractor can apply a variety of techniques to enable arthritis sufferers to lead as normal a life as possible despite the debilitating nature of the condition.
If he determines that misalignment of the spine is aggravating arthritis in other joints, one treatment option is the activator method to reinstate spinal stability and ease pain in those joints.
Chiropractic techniques for spinal issues can also be used for joint pain treatment in other parts of the body and to improve the range of movement. Another possible solution is the articulatory method of slowly moving joints while applying gentle pressure.
